Teklynx International and Data Support have released Evidence Hound, an evidence tracking software solution. Built on Teklynx BackTrack Asset and Inventory Tracking Software, the application is custom-designed to document law enforcement evidence chain-of-custody. Each item is assigned a unique bar code and is labeled, making the evidence easy to locate on the shelf. When investigators, law enforcement or court personnel access evidence, the attendant scans his/her own authorized bar code and a bar code corresponding to the officer who is receiving the evidence, and enters the destination and other relevant information. The Evidence Hound/BackTrack system automatically adds the date, time and other standard fields and prints a receipt. Evidence returns are handled in the same way.
